Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of corn embryo SOD extracts on glucose levels and anti-oxidative function in blood, liver, kidney and brain of diabetic rats. Methods: 36 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups,1) normal control group;2) diabetic model group(175mg/kg bw tetraoxypyrimidine injection);3) diabetic model group(diabetic model + 10mg/kg metformin).4) high SOD group(diabetic model+0.3g/ kg bw SOD feeding);5) middle SOD group;(diabetic model+0.18g/ kg bw SOD);6)(diabetic model+0.06g/ kg bw SOD).The rats were perfused a stomach with corn embryo SOD extracts for 4 weeks continuously and sacrificed animals after 45 days and then the blood taken.MDA level were measured by TBA method,GSH level activity were measured by modified DNTB method.SOD activities were measured by Xanthine oxidase methods. Results: Compared with that in the diabetic model group, glucose and MDA levels in SOD group decreased, and GSH content and SOD decreased. Conclusions: Corn embryo SOD extracts can decrease glucose level serum total cholesterol and triglyceride of the diabetic rats' and its mechanism is related to anti-oxidative function.
