Observation on therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine with Nourishing Yin and Tonifying Qi to reduce the relapse of nephrotic syndrome in pediatric patients

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine with Nourishing Yin and Tonifying Qi to reduce the relapse of nephrotic syndrome in pediatric patients. Methods A total of 100 pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome were randomly divided into observation group and control group,each group with 50 cases according to the order. Patients in observation group were given with routine treatment of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine of Nourishing Yin and Tonifying Qi,while patients in control group were given with conventional treatment of western medicine. Changes in relevant indexes were detected after treatment for 6 months,and they were followed- up for 18 months to observe their recurrence rate. Results After follow- up for 18 months,the recurrence rates of these two groups,number of cases with recurrence in observation group were lower than those of control group at each observation time point,the recurrence rate in observation group was 26%,it was significantly lower than 58% of control group,and the difference was significant( χ2= 10. 509,P 0. 05). After treatment,amount of 24 h urinary protein( U- TP),serum levels of TP,ALB,TC,TG,LDL- C and HDL- C in patients of two groups were significantly different with those before treatment( P 0. 05). The improvement in each index of observation group was more obvious,there was significant difference compared with that of control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion The application of traditional Chinese medicine with Nourishing Yin and Tonifying Qi can significantly reduce the rate of recurrence in pediatric patients with nephrotic syndrome,it can significantly reduce the amount of 24 h urinary protein,serum levels of albumin,lipids,etc,hence it is worthy to be further studied and expanded for clinical application.
