Abstract

Magnesium hydroxide was obtained by using carbide slag and magnesium chloride from salt lake as raw material through reaction of magnesium chloride and ammonia that was prepared through reaction of ammonium chloride and carbide slag, and ammonium chloride recovered from filtrate could be used circularly.Influences of several factors on productive rate of magnesium hydroxide were studied, and the characterization of magnesium hydroxide was carried out.The results showed that the optimum technology condition was concentration of magnesium chloride 1.5 mol/L,reaction time 30~45 min, temperature 25 ℃, ageing time 2.5 h.And in this condition productive rate of magnesium hydroxide could go beyond 75 percent, and the purity of the product could reach 97 percent, and the particle size of the product could be 800 nm approximately.
