The thought of developing industry and commerce to save the nation in late Qing dynasty and early Republic of China is one of the progressive social thought in modern China. It sprang up under crisis of Chinese nation and the development of bourgeoisie revolution in China. The significance of the thought is that it enriched the social political thouthts and economical theory in modern China and pushed forward the development and modernization of Chinese industry in that time. The thought had great influence on the developing model and the forming of nationals economical system of modern China.
