Abstract

The indigo vat dye is used to dye polyester fabrics. Effects of pH value of dye bath, dyeing temperature and time, addition of urea on dye uptake are discussed. Results show that polyester dyed at 120~130 ℃ for 10~20 minutes at pH value 6~7 with indigo dye 1% (owf) and urea 10g/L features higher color yield, color fastness to rubbing and washing both reach 4~5 level.
