Abstract
Objective:To investigate the value of whole-brain perfusion CT with 320-Detector row CT system in patients suffering from ischemic stroke. Methods:Eight patients with ischemic stroke underwent conventional CT scan and whole-brain perfusion CT with 320-Detector row CT system between 4 h~9 days after the onset of symptoms. Follow-up CT and/or MRI were performed 2~3 days after the first CT examination. The sensitivity of the plain CT scan and whole-brain perfusion CT for the ischemic foci were compared,and the quality of whole-brain perfusion and four-section perfusion images were also evaluted. Radiation dose was recorded strictly. Results:There were 22 ischemic foci in follow-up CT and/or MRI. 9 ischemic foci were found in plain CT scan,while,11 ischemic areas were found in whole-brain perfusion CT. Reduced cerebral blood flow (CBF),cerebral blood volume (CBV),and prolonged mean transit time(MTT) were shown in 4 ischemic areas,while,reduced CBF,increased CBV,and prolonged MTT were shown in the rest 7 ischemic regions. Observed range and edge of ischemic foci were better for whole-brain perfusion those that of four-section perfusion images. Radiation dose of whole-brain perfusion images was 4.6 mSv. Conclusion:By whole-brain perfusion CT with 320-Detector row CT system with administration of one contrast medium bolus,full evaluation of ischemic stroke can be achieved.
