Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of Simvastatin on proliferation and expression of α5 integrin in activated cultured rat renal interstitial fibroblasts in vitro with TGF-β1. Methods The activated cultured rat renal interstitial fibroblasts with TGF-β1 were cultured with Simvastatin by different concentrations. The proliferation and expression of α5 integrin in stimulated renal interstitial fibroblast were measured with MTT method,FCM and RT-PCR,repectively. Results Simvastatin could inhibit growth of activated rat renal interstitial fibroblasts with TGF-β1 and arrest cells in the G1 phase. Simvastatin had significantly dose-dependent stimulating inhibitory effects on TGF-β1-induced expression of α5 integrin. Conclusions Simvastatin may inhibit proliferation and expression of α5 integrin in activated rat renal interstitial fibroblasts with TGF-β1.
