Abstract

Objective To introduce a method to treat kyphosis with USS and evaluate its clinical effect Methods 31 patients with kyphosis were treated withone stage total vertebral wedge shaped osteotomyand fixed with USS.The follow up time was 1 year. The clinical results including the spinal column Cobb (before and after operation) and the osteotomy fusion rate were observed. Results 31 patients were followed up with average 12 months. The average Cobb angle of kyphosis was 73° before operation and 12° after operation. The average correction rate of kyphosis was 83 56% and the average fusion rate of osteotomy was 96 77%.No break of rod and nail and loose of connection occurred. Conclusion The USS is the reliable internal fixation instrumentation for the treatment of kyphosis.
