PROGRESS IN SEAWATER DESALINATION PROJECTS IN CHINA

Abstract

This review presents the numbers,output of the seawater desalination plants installed in China,as well as the ratios of these by respective desalination methods to these of total desalination water production.To date,the seawater desalination technologies have been used mainly in islands,power plants and chemical factories etc.located in the coastal areas.With the development of the desalination technology and application scale,the production cost of seawater desalination projects will be close to the cost of the municipal water.The seawater desalination technologies will be used extensively not only in islands and factories,but also in municipal water supply.
