Abstract
Peste des petits ruminants(PPR) is a highly contagious and infectious viral disease of domestic and wild small ruminants included in the CLASS A list of OIE.It is caused by peste des petits ruminants virus(PPRV),a Morbillivirus in family Paramyxoviridae, closely related to renderpest virus(RPV).As there is no cure for this disease, diagnostic technology plays a very important role in disease control. But conventional ways like the agar gel immunodiffusion(AGID),virus neutralization test(VNT),et al.could work well in the surveillance of PPR.Now new assays based on molecular biology techniques ,like the RT-PCR.PCR-ELISA is the main trend. They were sensitive, high throughput,time-saving,and could operation in the field.Recombinant vaccines are researched and used at present.
