Abstract

Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an acute and highly contagious viral disease of small ruminants with high rates of morbidity and sometimes high rates of mortality. It is endemic in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle-East and Southern Asia. Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV) is the etiological agent of PPR. We summarized the recent research progress about PPRV, which including the prevalence in the world, genome structure and structural protein of PPRV, detection methods of PPRV, drug and vaccine against PPRV, current issue about PPV research.
