Abstract
Research works on religion, literature and linguists are all paying a good deal of attention to the style of Buddhist Scripture that was translated into Chinese. Its style that vernacular(Baihua) intermingled with classical Chinese(Wenyan) is especially conspicuous.Linguists have researched the manifestation of vocabulary and grammar. But how did this style shaped up? It seems that few people discussed on it of this style. So,the author attempts to interpret the phenomenon of Chinese-translating Buddhist Scripture from two aspects: the sense of language in Buddhism and the peculiar way of Buddhist Scripture-translating.Briefly speaking, there are two reasons why so much Baihua exists in the Chinese translating-Buddhist Scripture: One is the Buddhists sense about language;the other is the level of translators' understanding about Chinese. And the Wenyan in Chinese-translating Buddhism is from the Chinese scholar who undertakes the task of noting down and polishing.
