Abstract

To study the action of radish peroxidase (POD) on the plant growth the tomato seeds were soaked and their seedlings were sprayed with radish peroxidase solution. When the seedlings have 3--4 leaves in a centre, the height, fresh weight and dry weight of seedlings were measured, the activity of POD and soluble protein were determined in the roots. The results showed that radish POD could promote the growth of tomato seedlings prominently, increase the contents of soluble protein and the activity of POD in roots. These suggested that radish peroxidase could promote the growth in tomato seedlings.
