Abstract

The preparation of engineering-constructed rhizosphere nitrogen-fixing bacteria (MGH8 plus EH861) was used to soak the seeds of pakchoi (Brassica campestris ssp. chinensis L.) and lettuce and to spray their seedlings in this study. It was further applied to dip lettuce seedling roots before transplanting. The results indicated that the treatments with nitrogen-fixing bacteria led to the slight increase in yield, plant height, number of leaves, dry and fresh plant weights of pakchoi by improvement of nitrogen supply. The result also revealed that the rhizosphere nitrogen-fixing bacteria had positive effect on lettuce^s seedling growth and yield.
