A Review of Chinese New Verse during 1999-2002

There has been a dynamic situation in relation to Chinese new verse during 1999-2002 in terms of practice and theoretic which has constituted the polybasic structure developed gradually in the late 1990s. In Chinese verse circles at the turn of the century, there have emerged three poetic styles and trends, such as writing in written language, writing in spoken language and synthetic . Correspondingly, there have appeared in the field of verse criticism such diverse criticism trends and structures as scholastic criticism, localized criticism, individualized criticism etc. Various verse movements, which have caused controversies and repercussions in the verse circles, have exerted positive influence and some negative effect on the current poetics construction and verse writing, thus having resulted in the boom of Chinese new verse at the turn of the century.
