The detection of serum hepatitis B virus pre-S1 antigen and its relationship with HBeAg and HBV DNA

Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of pre S1 with HBeAg and HBV DNA. Methods Onehundred and eleven specimens were collected.Serum pre S1 and HBV markers were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and HBV DNA was tested by fluorescence quantitive polymerase chain reaction (FQ PCR). Results Seventy three specimens were positive for pre S1Ag; 43 specimens were positive for HBeAg; 66 specimens were positive for HBV DNA. The positive rate of pre S1Ag were distinct with that of HBeAg( P 0.05). The positive rate of pre S1Ag in HBeAg positive group(90.7%) was markedly higher than that in HBeAg negative group (50.0%) P 0.01. The detection rate of pre S1Ag in these samples was correlated to that of HBV DNA ( P 0.05 ). The positive rate of pre S1Ag in HBV DNA positive group(77.3%)was markedly higher than that in HBV DNA negative group(48.9%), P 0.01. Conclusion Serum pre S1Ag was helpful to realize HBV infection and HBV replication.
