Abstract
The ecological footprint is an assessment method for measuring the degree of sustainable development.By using this method,the ecological foorprint and ecological carrying capacity of Shanxi Province from 1996 to 2005 were calculated then the prediction model was obtained by using SPSS software to predict the ecological footprint and ecological carrying capacity of Shanxi Province from 2006 to 2010.The result showed that the ecological footprint per capita of Shanxi Province increased from 1.2259hm2 in 1996 to 1.3838 hm2 in 2005,the ecological deficit per capita of Shanxi Province increased from 0.4799hm2 in 1996 to 0.6619hm2 in 2005.In the next five years,the ecological deficit per capita of Shanxi Province would continue to increase,Ecological enviroment of Shanxi would affect the region's sustainable development seriously.
