Abstract
Softswitch is the most important technology in Next Generation Networks (NGN) architecture. Through the way of software processing, it solves the complex functions like call control, call setup and other services which is difficult in traditional hardware telecom switches, and becomes core protocol of NGN. Through the description of the architecture of NGN, this paper discovers how Softswitch implements the common part of various high layer services and put others into services layer to fulfill the control in future complex applications, and finally describes what problems we will meet to put it into reality.'
