The expression of survivin and PTEN in cervical cancer and associated research

Objective: To discuss the relationship between survivin and PTEN with the development and invasion of the cancerous tissues.Methods:The expression of survivin and PTEN was investigated using immunohistochemical staining in 100 cases including 48 cases of cervical carcinoma,37 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) and 15 cases of normal cervical epithelia.The level of survivin and PTEN expression in cervical carcinomas were analyzed against clinical pathological factors.Morever,survivin expression in comparison with PTEN expression was investigated.Results:From normal cervical epithelia to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia to cervical carcinomas,survivin expression tended to increasement(P0.05);the expression of PTEN tended to decreasement(P0.05).The expression of survivin and PTEN were related with the patients'infiltration depth,clinical stages and lymph node metastasis(P0.05);but not related with the patients'age or histological grade of invasive carcinoma(P0.05).The expression of survivin was negatively correlated with the expression of PTEN(P0.05).Conclusion:There is synergy between survivin and PTEN;survivin and PTEN plays an important role in cervical cancer invasion and metastasis,Combined detection of survivin and PTEN may be a new target of cancer diagnosis.
