Abstract
Objective To survey the iodine level of drinking water in Ningxia and provide reliable basis for prevention of iodine deficiency diseases.Methods The samples of drinking water were selected by combined methods of cluster sampling and random sampling from 5 types of geologic districts in Ningxia.Iodine concentration was determined by arsenic-ceruim contact method.Rsults Out of 228 samples,there were 42(18.4%) samples that iodine concentration in drinking water was lower than 10μg/L,134(58.8%) was in 10-150μg/L,33(14.5%) was higher than 150-300μg/L,and there are 19(8.3%) were than 300μg/L respectively.The medians order of iodine concentration of drinking water from low to high was Liupan moutain area,Helan moutain area,middle dried district,loess plateau hills,Yellow River irrigation area(P0.05).The medians order of iodine concentration of different water resources from low to high was spring water,rain water in the cellar,Yellow River water in the cellar,well water(P0.05).Conclusions There are iodine-lacking and high-iodine area in Ningxia and endemic-area of goiter induced by excessive iodine-intaking maybe exist in Ningxia.
