Poverty Elimination Based on Community Participation Tourism in Western Hubei:A Case Study of Xiangyang District,Xiangfan City

Construction of Eco-cultural Tourism circle initiated in 2008 is a main strategy of Hubei Province.There are many areas of mountains,reservoirs and disasters in tourism circle of western Hubei,which are the focus of poverty elimination in that province.Poverty elimination based on tourism is concerned about the benefits of poor people through tourism.Community participation is the effective way to eliminate poverty based on tourism.According to tourism resources and potentials in Xiangyang County,this paper puts forward seven tourism models:scenic driving,farmhouses' reception,red tourism, eco-agriculture,reservoir tourism,celebrity culture and building tourist villages etc.In practice,government should ensure the dominant participation of community people,construct a reasonable mechanism for benefit distribution,establish a higher community involvement and build a long-term feedback mechanism for poverty elimination through tourism.
