Overseas Study on Urban Leisure in the Past Decade:Characteristics,Comparison and Enlightenment

Leisure is a gauge to measure a city's social ethics and residents' life quality.Cities usually advance along with the development of leisure.Based on Detebase Elsevier of Science Direct,the paper retrieves and classifies the published literature relating urban leisure from 2000-2010.The study reveals that overseas studies have employed various methods such as theoretical reviews,questionnaire survey,modeling design and quantitative evaluation,GIS data analysis,video tracking description and case comparison notes.Study contents include five study modules of urban leisure theory,urban leisure value and impact,urban leisure subject,urban leisure object as well as urban leisure management and security.Study about urban leisure based on geography science accounts for 25% of total study theses,mainly focusing on the planning and development of urban parks,green spaces,nature reserves and beaches,evaluation and management of leisure items.Differences in study contents exist between domestic and foreign scholars in terms of positioning of urban leisure,direction of urban leisure space development and study of urban leisure subject.Construction of urban leisure industry,natural and humane leisure space planning,environmental sustainability and leisure travel are important topics for studies at the present stage.
