Evaluation on Germicidal Effect and Toxicity of Skin Disinfectant of Mixed Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbs

Objective In order to know the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of a skin disinfectant of mixed traditional medicine herbs extracted by ethanol containing Parachlorometaxylenol.Method Suspension quantitative germicidal test,accelerated stability test and animal toxicity test were carried out.Results The killing logarithm values of staphylococcus aureus,pseudomonas aeruginosa and candida albicans in suspension exposed to the stock solution or double diluted solution of the disinfectant for 1 min met the requirement of disinfection.The evaluation on field test of disinfection effect by skin spray of the stock solution or double diluted solution for 2 min to 30 volunteers was acceptable.After stored at 37 ℃ for 3 months,the available parachlorometaxylenol and ethanol of the disinfectant decreased by less than 10%.In the animal toxicity test by using the stock solution of the disinfectant,mouse oral LD50 was5 000 mg/kg·bw,and the intact skin or damaged skin irritation test and acute eye irritation were negative.Skin sensitization of the disinfectant was mild,The result of mouse bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test was negative.Conclusion This disinfectant is with high germicidal efficacy,stable property and low toxicity.
