Clinlical study on treatment of ureaplasma urealyticum infection in female genitalia with azithromycin

Objective To assess the effective method for treating ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) infection in female genitalia.Methods One hundred and twenty cases diagnosed as UU infection in female genitalia were randomly allocated into three groups,40 cases in each group.Patients in group A were treated with azithromycin o.5g q.d po for 7 days,patients in group B were treated with azithromycin 0.5g in 5% glucose solution iv gt for 7 days and patients in group C were treated with azithromycin 0.5g in 5% glucose solution iv gt for 3 days,then they were stopped for 4 days.Each therapeutic course was 7 days.Results The successful rates of these three groups were 55.0%,77.5% and 72.5% respectively after first course of treatment,and the successful rates for second course were 75.0%,95.0% and 92.5% respectively.Their relapse rates were 36.7%,15.8% and 13.5% respectively,while their rates for side-effects were 12.5%,15.0% and 12.5% respectively.Conclusion Azithromycin is given intravenously for 3 days,then stopped for 4 days.Totally 2 courses are optimal for treatment of UU Infection in female genitalia.
