Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of short-term systemic application of methylprednisolone on patients with acute exacerbation of COPD.Methods 67 patients with c with acute exacerbation of COPD were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. All the cases were treated with the same routine therapy, and the treated group with intravenous methylprednisolone with the doses of 40~80mg/d for3~5d;the degree of improvement in arterial blood gas(PaO2、PaCO2),lung function(FEV1) were compared. Results Compared with the control group, the PaO2,PaCO2,FEV1 in treatment group were improved significantly after 5 days treatment(P0.05).There is no case of adverse reactions. Conclusion Short-term systemic application of methylprednisolone in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD is safe and effective.
