Abstract

Su Shi'sPingdan(plain)style mainly lies in his criticism on theKudanstyle of Tao Yuan-ming's poems.The process for the development ofKudanstyle ismagnificent and yet plain.As far as Tao Yuan-ming's poems are concerned,Kudanstyle means that his poems seem plain externally,but magnificent internally.By studying theKudanstyle,Su Shi found that Liu Zong-yuan and Wei Ying-wu had thesamestyle as Tao Yuan-ming.Su Shi composed lots of poems in response to Tao Yuan-ming's poems,and those poems by Su Shi are of great historical value in China.
