Research of Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan in the Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and effect mechanism of Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan on polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) differentiated as liver qi stagnation and excessive fire.Methods Sixty subjects of hyperandrogenemia in PCOS differentiated as liver qi stagnation and excessive fire were selected and randomized into two groups,a treatment group(30 cases) and a control group(30 cases).In the treatment group,Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan + Compound Cyproterone Acetate(Diane-35) were prescribed for oral administration.In the control group,Diane-35 was prescribed for oral administration.In the treatment of 3 cycles,the oral administration of letrozole combined with / without intramuscular injection of menotrophin was applied to induce ovulation.The levels of serum luteinizing hormone(LH),testosterone(T),ovulation rate and cycle ovulation rate as well as gonadotropin disorder were compared in the patients between the two groups.The clinical efficacy was assessed.Results 1.In the same cycle of ovulation induction,with Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan supplemented,the ovulation rate(P 0.05) and the cycle of ovulation(P 0.05) were improved.2.After treatment,LH and T values in serum were all lower as compared with those before treatment in the patients of the two groups,indicating the statistical significant difference(P 0.05).3.The symptoms of liver qi stagnation and excessive fire in the treatment group were relieved.Conclusion Danzhi Xiaoyao Wan combined with Diane-35 promotes menstruation and ovulation and relieves the symptoms of liver qi stagnation and excessive fire differentiated in traditional Chinese medicine.The advantages of this medication cannot be achieved by simple western medication.
