Abstract

Aim To evaluate the anti-tumor effect of peptide AP25 by experiments on histology and animal level aiming at provide the basis for clinical trials. Methods The anti-angiogenic effect of AP25 was assayed by rat aortic ring experiment, chick chorioallantoic membrane assay and the assay of tumor growth inhibitory in nude mice. Results AP25 significantly inhibited angiogenesis in rat aortic ring experiment and at the concentration of 0. 25 mg·L- 1,the inhibitory rate was 62. 19%; AP25 also showed a dose-dependent in-hibitory of angiogenesis in chick chorioallantoic membrane assay and at a concentration of 20 mg·L- 1,the inhibitory rate was 80. 37%; AP25 significantly inhibited the growth of HCT116 cells in nude mice( P 0. 01). Conclusions It clearly suggests that AP25has a strong anti-tumor activity. Its effect may depend on the inhibitory effect of angiogenesis.
