Abstract
Objective: To observe the efficacy of abdominal massage in the treatment of acute lumbar disc herniation( LDH). Methods: Seventy-nine patients with acute LDH were divided into treatment group( n =37) and control group( n =42). The treatment group received abdominal massage, while the control group was treated by traction as well as oral painkiller. Results: The treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate than the control group( 70. 27% vs 47. 62%,P 0. 05). After treatment, the pain score was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Abdominal massage is an effective method for the treatment of acute LDH.
