Abstract
This essay, using the genetic theory of art, researches the artistic tendency of the poems about swordsman in Tang dynasty, and the relations among the poetic style's change in early Tang dynasty, the Fenggu theory in flourishing Tang dynasty and the Yijing theory. As extraversion that chants the poets' ambitions, the poetry about swordsman is closely related to the evolution of aesthetic ideas of social and cultural patterns. The underlying causes of this shift are the poets' change in social position and social status. The evolution is clearly seen through the change from a realistic boy with a sword in flourishing Tang dynasty to an ideal swordsman in late Tang dynasty. The essay also perceives the big change in cultural patterns, aesthetic ideals, aesthetic interests and artistic styles in Tang dynasty.
