Abstract

The structure-property relationship of ethylene-propylene terpolymer (EPDM)/polypropylene (PP) blends was studied. EPDM (J3080P, from Jihua Co., China) can greatly improve the Izod impact strength of PP at both 23 ℃ and -20 ℃. A brittle-ductile transition region was observed at the EPDM contents between 20 phr and 30 phr. The toughening mechanism was found to be shear band. It was also showed that 3080P was superior to EPDM501A from Japan in the toughening effect.
