A Critical Review of Nation,Space,Time and Capitalist States: from Poulantzas' Perspective

Abstract
The interpretation of nation,space and time by Poulantzas has provided new blood to the Marxist theoretical analysis of the nature of contemporary capitalism when he analyzed the relations between the capitalist state and the capitalist relations of production as well as the social division of labor with the focus on materialist explanation of space and time.In his view,the traditional Marxist theory underestimated ethnic issues.Territory(or space) and tradition(or time) are of totally new significance in capitalism.Changes in space-time relation are linked with the changes in the nature of the social division of labor,particularly with the substantial changes in the states' institution and in practices of capitalist economic,political and ideological power.The basis of space-time relation is capitalist relations of production and the social division of labor.
