Diagnostic value of combined detection of tumor markers in patients with malignant pleural effusion

Abstract

Objective:To study the diagnostic value of combined detection of three indexes(carbohydrate antigen 50,CA50;carbohydrate antigen 125,CA125;carcinoembryonic antigen,CEA) in patients with malignant pleural effusion.Methods: CA50 was detected by immunoradiometric assay.CA125 and CEA were measured by full-(automatic) chemiluminescence immune assay.Results: The levels of CA50,CA125 and CEA in malignant pleural effusion were significantly higher than those in benign pleural effusion(P0.01).When combined detection of CA50,CA125 and CEA in malignant pleural effusion was performed,its sensitivity,specificity and accuracy was 71.8%,90.0% and 80.6% respectively.Conclusion: When single detection of CA50,CA125 and CEA in(malignant) pleural effusion was performed,its specificity was higher and sensitivity was lower,and the combined(determination) of CA50,CA125 and CEA in malignant pleural effusion may improve diagnostic sensitivity and(specificity) of malignant pleural effusion.
