Investigation and analysis on the awareness of screening to chronic diseases in community residents

Objective To investigate the community residents' recognition to the importance of screening to chronic diseases.Method Five hundred and twenty-six community residents completed questionnaires about the importance of screening to chronic diseases.Results Two hundred and ninteen(41.63%) community residents had a correct recognition to the importance of screening to chronic diseases;151(28.70%) residents had routine healthy examination every year.The residents with higher educational level showed higher level of recognition to the potential harm of chronic diseases.Conclusion It is suggested to strengthen public health education to help the community residents to realize the importance and value of routine screening to chronic diseases and thereby to improve the effectiveness of early diagnosis and treatment.
