Abstract
Canonical correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the relationships between main chemical components of flue-cured tobacco leaves and soil nutrients in Liangshan tobacco growing area of Sichuan province. The results showed that the canonical correlation coefficients between soil nutrient and sugar compound content in tobacco leaves, between soil nutrient and nitrogen-containing compound content in tobacco leaves, between soil nutrient and inorganic matter content in tobacco leaves all achieved 5% significant level. The correlation coefficient between canonical variables showed that total sugar and reducing sugar contents in tobacco leaves were significantly negatively correlated to the contents of total nitrogen,alkali-hydrolyzable nitrogen and water-soluble chlorine in soil;the volatile alkali content in tobacco leaves was significantly negatively correlated to soil available potassium content;the vitriol radical content in tobacco leaves was significantly positively correlated to the content of effective sulfur in soil.
