Abstract

Objective It is to observe the effect of percutaneous injection of autologous bone marrow on delayed union or nonunion of tibia and fibula fracture. Methods 60 cases were divided into treatment group and control group at random. 30 cases in treatment group were injected with autologous bone marrow into the fractured bones. The other 30 cases in control group were treated with auto iliac bone graft. The growth of the bony callus and the healing time were observed after treatment. The curative effect was evaluated. Results The growth of the bony callus and the healing time of treatment group were similar to that of control group. No difference was found between them ( P 0.05). Conclusion Percutaneous injection of autologous bone marrow can accelerate the growth of the bony callus. It is simply and effective to delayed union or nonunion of tibia and fibula fracture and can avoid complications.
