Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of internal iliac artery embolotherapy (IIAE) for acute primary postpartum hemorrhage (APPH).Methods:13 cases of APPH whose volume of bleeding ranged from 1500ml to 3600ml (mean 2200ml) were treated by IIAE with gelform and/or silk fragment. Results:Selective catheterization and embolotherapy were successful in all cases of APPH without any serious complications.Follow up for 3~4 months,no recurrent hemorrhage was observed. Conclusion:IIAE is a quick, safe and effective method for treatment of APPH without serious complication.
