Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of MRI in the preoperative assessment of cervical cancer.Methods MR1 was performed in sixty patients with tissue-proven cervical carcinoma prior to surgery.The results were compared with the histopathologic findings after surgery in all patients.Results The sensitivity for cervical carcinoma,accuracy and specificity for staging of cervical carcinoma of MRI were 95.0%,80.0%,and 84.2%,respectively.The accuracy of clinical staging of cervical carcinoma was 60.0%.Conclusion(1)MRI can show the tumor and extension of the cervicaI carcinoma clearly on multi planes and angles.MRI was accurate in the differentiation of parametrial extension.(2)MRI is beneficial in planning treatment for patients with cervical cancer and should be regarded as a routine preoperative imaging study for cervical carcinoma.
