EVALUATION OF RIGHT HEART FUNCTION AFTER CLOSURE OF ATRIAL SEPTAL DEFECTS USING TISSUE-DOPPLER ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Objective To evaluate the right heart function after transcatheter closure of atrial septal defects(ASD) using Tissue-Doppler echocardiography.Methods Transcatheter closure of ASD was performed in 73 patients,echocardiography was done one day before the closure,and three days and three months after the procedures,the items measured were the anterio-posterior diameter of the right ventricle,the transverse and vertical diameters of the right atrium,pulmonary arterial pressure,and the velocity of systolic movement and early and late diastolic movement of the basal parietal walls of the right ventricle.ResultsThe results displayed that along with the completion of the interventional therapy,all the measured parameters declined or grew downwards with the descend of the pressure of right ventricle(F=20.29-119.66,P0.05).Conclusion Tissue-Doppler echocardiogramphy technique can better assess the function of right heart after transcatheter closure of ASD.
