Abstract
Jinyu No.5(Cucumis sativus L) was used to study the effects of irrigation on water distribution and water use efficiency(WUE) of cucumber in solar greenhouse. Results revealed that water drainage, evaporation and soil water storage decreased with the decline of irrigation, but transpiration was no significant difference.Cucumber yield did not decrease but increased with the decrease of irrigation.Compared to conventional practice, irrigation falling 25% and 50% increased yield by 10.5% and 15.4%,and increased WUE by 31.7% and 71.4%,respectively.This result revealed that empirical irrigation was more than cucumber water requirement.
