Effects of Morphometric Attributes on Body Weight of Odontobutis yaluensis:a Path Analysis

Abstract

Twelve morpHometric attributes of 74 Odontobutis yaluensis,including total length(X1),standard length(X2),body depth(X3),caudal peduncle depth(X4),interorbital diatance(X5),caudal peduncle length(X6),head length(X7),eye diameter(X8),head depth(X9),snout length(X10),head length behind eye(X11) and body weight(Y),were measured.The correlation index,path coefficients and determination coefficient were calculated based on morphometric attributes by correlation analysis,path analysis and multivariate analysis,respectively.And the morphometric attributes which reach level of significance(P0.05) were used to establish the multiple regression equations.The results show that the coefficient of variation of body weight(55.72%) was higher than that of others.The morphometric attributes which reach level of significance(P0.05) were used to establish the multiple regression equations,which was Y =-46.510-3.810X1+5.148X2+16.939X3+23.829X4.The regression relations reached significant level(P0.05).And it suggested that the four selected attributes(total length,standard length,body depth,caudal peduncle depth) were practical.And the multiple R,R2 and adjusted R2 were 0.934 5,0.873 3 and 0.866 0,respectively.The correlation coefficients of morphological attributes to body weight were all at extremely significant level(P0.01).By path analysis,the path coefficients of total length,standard length,body depth and caudal peduncle depth were-0.387 1,0.519 9,0.535 3 and 0.292 3,respectively.The determination coefficients of body depth(0.286 5) were larger than that of total length,standard length and caudal peduncle depth.The determination coefficient of standard length and body depth to body weight was larger than that of others.
