Abstract

187 four-month-old Scorturm barcoo were randomly sampled for measuring the morphometric attributes, including the total length, body length, body depth, body width, interorbital distance, head length, head depth, head width, caudal peduncle length, caudal peduncle depth and body weight. The correlation coefficients among the attributes were calculated, and then path ananlysis was conducted by taking the body weight as a dependent variable, and other ten morphometric attributes as independent variables. The results showed that the correlation coefficients between each morphological trait and body weight were all in very significant difference levels. The total length, body depth, head length, head width and caudal peduncle depth were eliminated from the variable data, because all of them were co-linear with body length. The head depth and caudal peduncle length were also kicked out from the variable data because of no significance in multiple regression equation. The three morphometric attributes(body length, body width, interorbital distance) were retained, and the path coefficient of the body length weighted the most(P2=0.557) to the body weight.Judged from the results of correlation index(R2=0.952),the main variables had been selected. It was obtained the multiple regression equation to estimate the body weight as Y=-46.540+0.494 X2+1.159 X4+0.656 X5,which provided a theoretical basis for Scorturm barcoo breeding.
