Abstract
Based on direct shear and triaxial test, we investigated the influence of different shear condition on the shear strength induced by water content for remolded mucky soil. The results show that the criteria water content exists in the remolded mucky soil. When the water content is smaller than the criteria water content, the cohesion is increasing with water content. A decrease is observed once the water content is larger than the criteria water content. However, the friction angle always decreases with water content. Introduction of cohesion and internal friction angle intensity function, a dimensionless method for the shear strength of remolded sludge was accepted, which obtains the shear strength formula of remolded mucky soil under different shear condition.
