Abstract
Objective:To provide objective anatomy data for the diagnosis of brain disease in nomal neonates by observig brain volume by CT.Methods:To measure the brain volume of 42 neonates with normal head CT scanning.Nine items of brain volume were abtained with volume analysis software by spreading the selected area with the gray-scale method.Results:The mean values of nine items of neonates brain were obtained,the whole brain volume was(419.15 ±5.33)cm3,the volume of the left cerebral hemisphere was(187.62 ±2.91)cm3,the right cerebral hemisphere volume was(187.61 ±3.38)cm3,the volume of the left cerebellar hemisphere was(17.15 ±1.05)cm3,the right cerebellar hemisphere volume was(16.99 ±0.85)cm3,the left lateral ventricle volume was(3.76 ±0.07)cm3,the right lateral ventricle volume was(3.75 ±0.08)cm3,the third ventricle volume was(0.22 ±0.01)cm3,the fourth ventricle volume was(0.24 ±0.01)cm3,and there was no statistically significant differences in comparison between the volume of the left and right cerebral hemisphere,the left and right cerebellar hemisphere,the left and right lateral ventricle(P0.05).Conclusion:MSCT is accurate and reliable in vivo measurement of the normal neonatal brain volume,so it can recognize the CT anatomy of normal neonatal brain from imaging perspective.
