Abstract
Spatial index is the vital technique for improving storage efficiency of spatial databases and the spatial retrieve performance. Traditional technology of index can not be used efficiently in spatial index. Introduced the methods on spatial database index, and then proposed the spatial multilevel index. The building algorithm and the retrieval algorithm on the index were discussed and analyzed.
