Abstract

Based on the reading and analyzing of three full-length novels, written by contemporary author Yu Hua in 1990s, this paper explains that the novels reflects the thoughts of the author and human being, and the value and meaning of “living” as well. His novels take on kinds of complicated, especially expressive, aesthetic meanings. They also take on double structures in the text: explicit double-tone narrative, implicit double-tone narrative. It is explicit double-tone narrative that composes dialogues between figures, narrator and others (readers, the author, listener in the text). It further probes into the literary world, develops the form and development of thoughts, and deepens the system of thoughts, by the structure. In the other dialogue structure, namely tragic meaning and comic meaning structure, Yu Hua is asking for and thinking about the same theme of the novels, so they are full of tension, bumping aesthetic style, deep experience thinking, and suffering and carnival meaning. This comes from denying consciousness and reasonable critical spirit.
