Abstract

Objective:To study the relationship between expression of MMP-2 MMP-9 and metastasis and prognosis in patients with lung cancer. Methods:The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were detected in 108 non-small cell lung cancer tissues and 19 benign pulmonary lesion tissues by immunohistochemistry method(LSAB method).Results:(1)the expression of MMP-2,MMP-9 in lung cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent non-cancerous lung tissues and benign pulmonary lesion(P0.05).(2)Compared to the cases without lymph node and/or distant metastasis, the expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were significantly higher in cases with lymph node and/or distant metastasis;(3)The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in squmas cell carcinomas was significanty higher than of that in adenocarcinoma and adenosquamaous cell carcinoma(P0.05);(4)The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 showed close correlation of each other(P0.05).(5)The expression MMP-2 and MMP-9 showed close correlation with survival rate in patients with lung cancer(P0.05).The 5-year survival rate in patients with high MMP-2,and MMP-9 expression was much lower than that in cases with low expression(P0.05)and(6)The results of multivariable Cox model analysis showed that detection of the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 might be helpful for predicting prognosis of patients with lung cancer.Conclusion:(1)Over-expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 was very popular in lung cancer, and was closely related to the progression and metastasis of tumor and(2)Detection of the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in lung cancer was helpful in predicting prognosis of lung cancer and guided the postoperative multimodality therapy for lung cancer.
