Abstract

The soil physical and chemical properties and the water-conservation function of different forest have been researched on the base of the methods of typical region investigation,experiment study in site in the fixed standard area in Meijiang. The result showed that there existed significant differences in soil properties and water conservation function among forest types. Under the similar site condition, the broad-leaf forest had greater water conservation function and better maintenance of soil fertility than the Coniferous forest did. The total water-holding capacity of broad-leaf forest is 2 749.8 t·hm-2, higher than eucalyptus forest, shrub forest and Coniferous forest respectively by 6.1%、8.9%和 12.7%. Based on the total water-holding capacity of litter and soil (0~60 cm), the orders of the water conservation function for the four forest types was: broad-leaf foresteucalyptus forestshrub forestConiferous forest.
