On DONG Zhong-shu's Concept of the Heaven

Abstract
The paper holds that DONG Zhong-shu's understanding of man is based on his understanding of the heaven,man being son of the heaven and therefore abiding by the principles of the heaven,and the heaven being endowed with humanity.Heaven,although transcendent,and man,transcending the physical,form the duality of the DONG philosophy of governance.While the two antipodes are assimilated into one unity,DONG actually alienated man from his material existence.
