Tragedy of Intellectuals in Modern China:focusing on "retaining Cai Yuanpei"

The event that Cai Yuanpei resigned to assume responsibility was influential in the May Fourth Movement,and the aftercare of the event changed the movement and even the historical process of modern China.This paper probes into the psychological activities of the intellectuals at that time,describes how they maneuvered among various political groupings under the name of defending Cai Yuanpei and how they split into different groups or circles.
